This is what an overly corroded battery looks like. This happens naturally over time on vehicle battery terminals. Since you check your oil with every gas/fuel fill up (or, you should be at least!), you should also be keeping an eye on the amount of corrosion that’s building up on your car or truck battery. There are solvents that we can use here in the shop during a battery maintenance service that will help slow the corrosion process but nothing that can prevent it 100%. It is sometimes suggested that vehicle batteries are good for 5 years. We don’t believe this is the case. That 5 year life span is set by the manufacturer with the battery only being used to start the vehicle. This does not take into account any “extras” being turned on, you know, the computer systems, the lights and radio, those extras. Subaru of America reported that over all Subaru sales increased by 24% from January 2014 to January 2015 with it being the 38th consecutive month of month-over-month growth. This is awesome news for teams like ours who consider ourselves Subaru specialists! Bud’s is happy to announce that we are partnering with the US Marine Corps Reserve and Toys-For-Tots this year. It is our first time working together with this program here at the shop even though most of our team donates personally. We are super excited to be a donation location and be able to make a difference in the lives of some local children. Toys For Tots is a national campaign started in 1947. Since then it has grown to be a national campaign with a call to action from the US Marine Corps. They are asking the people of our country to come together and think about how receiving a new toy at Christmas will make a child whose family has fallen on hard times feel. Receiving a shiny new toy for Christmas verses nothing at all as you watch the children around you play with their new things can be a devastating blow. We all love fairs right!? Well, at Bud’s we do. We also love supporting positive youth! Dakota, who is a family member of one of our suppliers, presented us with the opportunity to help him out as well as reminding us not to miss out on the 2014 fair fun. He is in his fourth year in a 4-H club called “Critters & Company” and will be showing his market pig Patsy at the Lynden Fair that’s coming up in the next couple weeks. He’s raised Patsy since birth this January and has learned so much about business in the process. While learning about expenses he is seeing how all of the necessities add up. We sent off a donation for Dakota today in hopes that it can help him out in his 2014 fair experience and possibly be an overage that he is able to use towards his next year market project or even his college fund.
